CLEANING

•         The cleaning of your Countertops should be daily with a neutral, pH-balanced cleaner, specifically formulated for stone and warm water.

•         Do not use ammonia-based cleaners, alkaline or acidic solutions, abrasive powder or soapy detergents that may dull and damage the surface, for example bleach, glass cleaner and citrus cleaners.

•         Avoid using scouring pads, rough sponges and steel wool.

•         Always remove residues from cooking oils and everyday food spills, as well as hairspray or other cosmetics immediately before they penetrate or dry onto the surface. Some common foods and drinks containing acids and alcoholic beverages may etch or dull the stone surface. Many common toiletries (perfume, toothpaste, mouthwash) also contain acids and other ingredients that may damage the stone surface or degrade the sealer.

 •         Always dry granite after cleaning.

ABOUT THE SEAL

By its natural porosity is important to protect the granite from liquid seep. Your granite countertop is installed polished and sealed.

 •         While granite is highly scratch-resistant; in order to preserve the seal we recommend you do not cut on it directly. Use a cutting board.

 •         Avoid prolonged exposure to extremes temperature or constant temperature changes, it may harm your stone. Hot cooking pots/pans will not damage the surface but it might remove the sealer; however avoid leaving them on the counter for long periods of time, especially during the winter.

 •         Use trivets or mats beneath objects that can scratch the surface.

 •         If you want to keep your granite countertop protected it should be resealed regularly. We recommend doing it annual, but if it is heavily used or already damage before a year, you could seal it as many times as you want.

 •         If you notice cracks, signs of erosion or deep stains, consult a stone countertop professional.
